Abstract

The dramatic growth and evolution of the Internet in all its dimensions among which of course its size but also its heterogeneity and usage, present great challenges for the supporting technologies. Tools must be proposed for helping software engineering in developing scalable web services that can handle continuous changes of Internet. The aim of this project is to develop a theoretical model and a framework for analyzing and predicting scalability and Quality of Service parameters for large scale computations on Internet. We focus on composition of web services defined by choreographies. The theoretical model that we target will be able to predict the scalability of web services choreographies regarding the intrinsic dynamism, heterogeneity, and complexity related to the network. It will also be assessed by many simulations and validation with real choreographies. The objectives of this project can be included in those of the european project CHOReOS financed by the European Commision with USP as one of the major partners. The CHOReOS project will start on the first October 2010. It focus on the engineering of ultra large scale web services choreographies. (AU)
