Abstract The objective of this project is to study the behavior of a relativistic particle moving under the influence of an external magnetic field and an electrostatic wave. The properties of the system will be studied as a function of the parameters of the electromagnetic wave and among these properties we point out the perturbation level from which the system becomes chaotic, how the transition to chaos occurs and the coherent particle acceleration. Besides the study of such properties we also intend to use methods of control of chaos to reduce the chaotic regions in the phase space of the system. | |
