Abstract The present work aims to understand which processes act and acted in the genesis of a Red Ferric Latosolic Nitisol in an area of litological contact between basic rocks from the Serra Geral Formation and the sandstones of the Caiuá Formation, in the basin of the Gurupá river, in the municipality of Floraí, state of Paraná, Brazil. This soil is commonly found in all north-northwestern region of the state of Paraná and southeast region of the state of São Paulo; the Latosolic Nitisol, usually placed on the medium section of the slopes, beneath the Argisols, and presents, as a peculiar charactheristic, micro-agregated structures of a typical Latosol, which could indicate the possibility of a system of lateral transformations with the transportation of materials (iluvial-eluvial systems), or yet, a transformation in situ, due to the mobilization of the clay, which was previously trapped in the cristalin shapes. Only through a deep research of the pedological coverture of this area, involving macro and micromorphological analysis of a selected topossequence(s), we will be able to understand the genesis of this type of soil. | |
