Abstract

The cubed for determination of volume and profile of the trunk of trees leads to an increase in cost and time of inventory. The present work has as main objective to test the geometric method in native forests in three different vegetation types, determining the accuracy of volumetric equations and taper equations generated from the method in question, eliminating the traditional cubed. To test the method, will be randomly sampled three forest areas of different vegetation types. The trees that make up theparcels will be identified and will be chosen according to diameter class, individuals tobe strictly cubed. Shall be determined in this way, the values of individual volume and taper, generating data that can be compared to those obtained by scaling using the analytic geometry. Will be tested on the heights of the sampling method and intensity for each forest physiognomy, assessing the feasibility of the geometric method. The trees used for scaling, will later be used to calculate biomass, through the determination of the density of individuals by the immersion method, which will produce values and models of carbon stock for each vegetation type.
