Abstract

In this work, the objective is to study and optimize the CO methanation process in polymer electrolyte fuel cells containing R/C catalysts in the anode, and in which a flow of hydrogen containing 100 ppm CO is supplied. In this way, the aim is to reduce the CO poisoning effect in Pt-based catalysts by reduction of surface coverage of adsorbed CO, thus opening free sites for the hydrogen adsorption. Once the methanation reaction is confirmed, the extension of this reaction will be enhanced by utilization of PdRu/C materials with different Pd and Ru contents.
