Abstract

The use of psychotropic drugs among adolescents has been broadly studied, focusing not only the prevalence of use, but also on risk and protective factors, including sports activities. However, studies about the relationship between sports and drugs are still inconsistent and particularly scarce in the Brazilian reality. Thus, this project aims to examine the relationship between sports and consumption of psychotropic substances by adolescents in 27 Brazilian capitals. The population of the study corresponds to the high school students from the public and private schools. The sample must be representative, stratified and by clusters, obtained in three stages: 1st the random selection of the schools, 2nd classes and 3rd students. The questionnaire is self-applicable and anonymous, based on an instrument proposed by WHO about patterns of drug use, with inclusion of three questions about which the most practiced sport, the frequency and reason for sports activity. The questionnaires will be given collectively in the classroom. After data processing, they will be subjected to criticism. For analysis, will be used the chi-square, logistic regression or multinomial, considering a significance level of 5%.
