Abstract

Research will consist of a deontological study of professional practice in architecture and urbanism (As Webster (2010) the definition of deontology is the ethical doctrine which holds that the worth of an action is determined as by its conformity to some binding rule rather than by its consequences. Ethical theory concerned with duties and rights).The Codes of Ethics, formulated throughout the history of the process of professionalization in Brazil, will be studied to map its evolution until the present and also comparing the code in force, formulated by the system CREA/CONFEA, with those from other countries and councils. The selected codes are the Code de Déontologie des Architectes (França), European Deontological Code (ACE-União Europeia), Code of Professional Conduct (RIBA-Inglaterra), Code of Ethicts & Professional Conduct (AIA-Estados Unidos da América), Código de Ética (CPIAA-Argentina) and International Codes of Ethics in International Consulting (UIA-Internacional). Taking into account, the insertion of the architectural design in the capitalist production and it's conversion into commodity, the architect and urbanism professional practice in a job market which is competitive, conflictive, unequal, generating relevant ethical contradictions, will be reviewed from the Code of Ethics formulated by the system CREA/CONFEA. To carry out this research, a theoretical and documentary survey will be necessary, as well as interviews with professionals active in the area in order to ascertain the relevance of the code in force and its affection in the orientation of professional conduct and its possible conflicts.
