Abstract

The basic composition of Mineral Trioxide Aggregate (MTA) is Portland cement (PC). The association of CP and niobium oxide (ONb) in size micro or nanoparticle can promote radiopacity and reparative potential. It is important to analyze its properties. The aim of this study is to evaluate the radiopacity and cytotoxicity of different formulations from the CP. The following endodontic materials will be studied: 1) Portland Cement (PC) 2) White MTA (Angelus), 3) CP + 30% ONi microparticle, 4) CP + 30% nanoparticulate ONi. For the radiopacity test, standardized specimens from the different materials will be radiographed with an occlusal film along with a scale with thickness from 2 to 16 mm of aluminum. After digitization of radiographic images, they will be analyzed using a software for radiographic analysis. For the cytotoxicity test will be used the MTT test. Still, bioactivity will be assessed through the enzymatic activity of alkaline phosphatase. Statistical analysis will be performed by using analysis of variance and Tukey test, with significance level of p <0.05.
