Abstract

The general objective of the research is to evaluate the impact of the Bolsa Família (Family Stipendium Program), BPC (a benefit to very poor elderly and people with deficiencies) and pensions paid by Social Security on the spending with the food consumption, not food consumption, agricultural investments and investments in education of the poor households benefiting the programs, compared to non beneficiaries. The impact of direct income transfer programs will be estimated through propensity score matching. We expect that this research presents elements that can show the effectiveness of these programs in reducing hunger, promoting food security and nutrition in improving welfare and increasing investments in education and agriculture of beneficiary families.
