Abstract

The growing number of crimes committed by children and adolescents are a problem that has worsened every day. Several proposals have been discussed in a pursuit of solution search, including the reduction of criminal majority. There is speculation about lowering the age limit fixed by the legislature, and it has studied procedures to be adopted with the aim to readjust the social and educational measures brought by Estatuto da Criança e do Adolescente, these measures to be applied to adolescent offenders and aims to educate and prepare the young to socialize. There is much discussion about improvements to be made, or in a possible replacement of their models. This research aims to examine the question of legal age in Brazil in accordance with the age set by the legislature, carrying out a comparative study with other countries, as well as examining the procedure established by Estatuto da Criança e do Adolescente. For this, we used deductive methods, and comparative history, through which it will be possible to analyze the object under study.
