Abstract

In 1997, the National Curriculum Parameters (BRASIL, 1997a) suggested the inclusion the themes for discuss social problems in schools. In this way, the Transversal Themes have objective discuss some social urgency subjects that objective seeking to rescue human dignity, equal rights and the active participation in society. The proposal is that these themes should be discussed in all the knowledge areas, considering the particularities of the areas and the themes. In Physical Education, in particular, the teacher working with the transversality should establish relationships between the practices of body culture, for instance, the Transversal Theme Cultural Plurality can permeate discuss about capoeira. Combine the Transversal Themes with Physical Education is not an easy task because there is lack of tradition in the area at the same time that there are no textbooks that can provide support in the planning and intervention of the teachers. In this way, is necessary to think about preparing textbooks to provide support for teachers in teaching strategies and to think in the development of their practices, once the books are relevant tools in the teaching and learning process. Thus, the objective first identify the students´ previous conceptions related from the last two years of one elementary public school about the Transversal Theme Cultural Plurality. And from such data, construction of the textbook, starting from the students´ conceptions about the concepts that guide the Cultural Plurality transversal theme. The material will be consisting in two different textbooks, one for the student and the other for the teacher.
