Abstract

This research aims to study the pedologic cover and verify what its relationship with the formation and evolution of pseudokarstic depressions and with the drainage network. The study area is located in the southwestern sector of the municipality of Maracaí-SP, presenting largely soils with medium texture derived from intertrapp sandstones. The area presents many types of depressions, such as: closed without water, closed with water and closed with open exit, indicating possible stages of evolution. Its genesis and evolution are likeky to be related to an internal differentiation of soil cover, due to pedogenic (geochemical) processes that reflect in the landforms. We believe a detailed study of pedological systems existing in these different types of featuresis necessary, in order to prove or disprove the hypothesis that the formation of such depressions must be explained through the concurrent evolution of pedological and geomorphological processes, which cannot be dissociated.
