Abstract

The Research Project aims to investigate the functioning of Labor Law and also how different actors (like judges, lawyers, public servants, employees and employers) were part of the social rights effectuation. The focus is to understand the functioning of the normative power in the period between 1958 and 1964, through lawsuits filed by employer's and labor unions from Porto Alegre City, Rio Grande do Sul State, Brazil. Thereunto, a set of collective bargaining lawsuits were selected, all of them related to issues like wage increase for the workers, social benefits, better working conditions, employment status and union representation.
