Abstract

For the appropriate design of engine components which depend on the oil supply, the associated boundary conditions must be known. Specifically for sliding bearings, the values of the input temperature and oil pressure are required. Based on this information, the components may be analysed using specific mathematical simulation models. This project aims to the development of a software to model the complete lubrication circuit of an internal combustion engine in operating conditions. The input data are the sizing of the lubrication circuit, pump oil flow curve as function of the journal angular speed and engine operating conditions. The output data are the oil flow, temperature and oil film pressure at any point of the circuit as a function of the crank angle. (AU)
