Abstract

The objective of this training program is to prepare a professional for the execution of common general tasks in a research laboratory, such as the maintenance of equipment, the organization of bibliographic material and the supply of consumable, non-permanent equipment, but mainly for specific activities in Marine Ecology, thus the need to select a graduate candidate with a sound background in Biological Sciences. The emphasis of the proposed program is given in both field activities, namely techniques for studying larval settlement of marine invertebrates and sampling their respective benthic populations, and laboratory tasks, which comprise standard routines for morphometric analyses, and the estimation of reproductive output based on the examination of external clutches and plankton samples.
