Abstract

The female reproductive organs are always growing and regressing. Because of that, they suffer continually remarkable changes in the degree of blood flow. So they are some of the few adult tissues in which the angiogenesis occurs as a normal process. Ovarian follicles and corpus luteum contain and produce angiogenic factors. The main angiogenic factors are the vascular endothelial growth factors (VEGFs). Studies show that some catechins in the White tea inhibit the VEGFs, but there are no studies demonstrating that the chronic consumption of White tea can interfere with reproduction. The aim of this study is to determine the influence of White tea in ovulation rate in superovulated rats by the number of corpus luteum and ovarian weight. For this, the rats will be divided into two groups: control group (n = 30) and group that will intake the White tea (n = 30). The corpus luteum will be collected from 10 animals in each group at the end of each month, for three consecutive months, the number of corpora lutea and ovarian weight will be assessed. The statistical comparisons will be submitted to unpaired t test realized and the variance analysis for parametric variables, and Mann-Whitney and Kruskal-Wallis tests for variables that are not parametric, differences will be considered when p <0.05.
