Abstract

Biomass burning seems to be involved with health problems. The aim of this study is to estimate the association between exposure to fire and hospital admissions for respiratory system and cardiovascular system diseases in the city of Ribeirao Preto - SP. It will be an ecological study of time series, with data obtained from Datasus for hospitalizations, CETESB for pollutants and INPE for biomass burning; it will develop a model using Poisson regression. The analysis covers the period from 01.08.2008 to 31.12.2010.
