Abstract

The definition of prodigality used by the current Brazilian Law is quite obscure: the Civil Code says little about it, the literature is rare and old, and the limits are nebulous. This study aims to solve such absences, searching through several works for information that can't be found in most of the manuals and scientific articles, also linking its content to the new Brazilian socioeconomic circumstances - higher economic growth rate, bigger credit market, more indebted families - in order to update the doctrine and solidly delimit it.
