Abstract

The interest in studying educational institutions has grown in the academic domain, particularly since the 90s. Nosella and Buffa (2009) demonstrate its present relevance to the history of education. The technical high school SENAI "Conde Alexandre Siciliano" - Jundiaí, was chosen for the research due to its historical importance to the technical education in the city and in the country. The technical education in the context of Jundiaí points out the possibility of studying the process of industrialization, the patterns of work that make this possible, as well as the employee's formation. Given this background, the research will establish the origins of the SENAI institution and its first active years.The process of industrialization of Jundiaí city is certainly related to the Brazilian one. The research will consider the relations between the local context with the national context, but it will be characterized by the search for evidences about specific features of SENAI - Jundiaí and the city. The leading questions for this work concern the local foundation of the institution, its organizational structure, its model of learning-teaching and the scholar culture developed by the institution from 1944 to 1961. It is expected to contribute to the history of the educational institutions as well as to the city's history. (AU)
