Abstract

Abstract:This study aims to analyze the female representations in the lyrical works of Florbela Espanca (1894 - 1930) and Judith Teixeira (1880 - 1959), focusing on its erotic aspects seeing that as the main differential of their poetic language and as a reason to both of their works oblivion. In the beginning of 20th century the Portuguese society as well as its literary critics still kept a very clear misogyny face, that's why both poetess works were victims of hard criticism for showing a female's profile in disagreement to then admissible social standards. Thus, besides poetry analysis is necessary to check out the social context of the literary production/reception in order to understand the dissonance of those works to the literary production from other contemporary female authors.
