Abstract

This project takes into account the importance of having sources terms and the implications that this represents to the numerical solution of partial equations, as it is the case in the study of problems with high number of Weissemberg (High Weissember Number - HWNP). Here the focus will be in 2D, for example the 2D Burges equation with stiff source terms. The interesting thing here is that the stiff source term imposes a difference of scale of the wave propagation and those resulting from the source term itself: this different scales mecanism is central to HWNP. So a deep and detailed study of equations with stiff terms, bringing the concepts used in HWNP, can flourish, without requiring excessive computational development that free boundary problems, for instance, do demand.
