Abstract

Taking as starting point some previous researches, this project aims to analyze the discourse characterized as New State's Pedagogy, as expressed in the books "O estado autoritário e a realidade nacional" by Azevedo Amaral, "Tendências da educação brasileira" by Manuel Bergström Lourenço Filho and "O Estado Nacional" by Francisco Campos, published respectively in 1938, 1940 and 1941. Previous investigations found that the New State's Pedagogy discourse is guided by the metaphor determined route, whose origin is attributed to Plato. It was also found that those authors mention Plato to sustain some of their arguments in defense of education established by New State. The purpose of this research is to examine the hypothesis that there are discursive marks (themes and arguments) typically Platonic in the discourse of those authors, especially when they talk about history, politics and education in Brazil. This hypothesis is supported on the theory from classical Greek philosophy scholars, who claims the influence of Platonic philosophy on the entire history of Western thought, as well as its permanence in the contemporary era.
