Abstract

The Tuberculosis (TB) is contagious infectious disease caused by Bacillus of Koch (Mycobacterium tuberculosis), its most common form is pulmonary tuberculosis, and is healing when treatment is performed correctly. It is one of the important causes of mortality worldwide, and has high prevalence and incidence in Brazil, which lies between the countries with the largest numbers of cases of the disease. The objective of this study is to cost- effectiveness analysis in the self-administered and supervised treatment of patients with tuberculosis in the western district of Ribeirão Preto, estimating the costs direct and indirect. Because it is a disease that usually affects the places where social development and economic determinants are weakened as is the case of Brazil, will find observe the weaknesses of the organization and management health system, through the analysis of the cost of TB and performing measurements of its effectiveness. The study model is descriptive epidemiological , a evaluative survey, with the view to collect socio-demographic data and characteristics about monitoring and treatment evolution through the medical records of TB patients, and also estimate the indirect costs through interviews with patients, and using cost table of the Ministério da Saúde (MS) for the calculation of direct costs. In order we have the analysis of cost-effectiveness of supervised and self-administered treatment TB. (AU)
