Abstract This project regards the fabrication and study of hybrid and Grätzel solar cells based on nanostructured TiO2 films. Special attention will be given to structural and optical properties of TiO2 films and TiO2/P3HT and TiO2/N3 interfaces. The nanostructured TiO2 thin films will be synthesized by hydrothermal technique. The basic characterization of these films will be made through of X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, UV-Vis-NIR spectrophotometry and spectrofluorimetry. The interface degradation will be monitored through the fluorescence spectra and absorbance in the UV-Vis-NIR region. The results obtained in interface studies will be then used to assemble the photovoltaic devices aiming to increase its energy conversion efficiency. The basic characterization of the devices will be carried out by photo-current and current versus applied voltage measurements in dark and under controlled lighting. Impedance spectroscopy combined to electrically detected magnetic resonance (EDMR) will be used to investigate the carrier transport processes, which are important to obtain a fast optimization route of the studied devices. | |
