Abstract

The correlation between epigenetic regulation of physiological functions during postnatal development and carcinoma, although documented in the literature, is far from being elucidated. Understanding the mechanisms by which the regulation of stress response and other factors related to maternal behavior influences tumor development may represent an advance in prophylactic and therapeutic strategies. The high incidence of bladder cancer justifies efforts to understand the factors related to the pathophysiology of this disease. The urinary bladder is affected by chronic stress, which alters its morphophysiology, causing infections and other injuries. This work intends to correlate organic changes mediated by maternal behavior and the development of bladder cancer and to characterize the experimental induction of cancer of the urinary bladder in UCh strain. Adoption between the high (UChA) and low (UChB) maternal care varieties of rats will be performed, in order to verify the genetic and epigenetic contribution (given by maternal behavior) in the progression and characteristics of urinary bladder cancer. Histopathological analysis will be performed to characterized progression of non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer.
