Abstract

This research project of doctoral thesis aims to assess the quality of water from a lake in the Amazon region, called the Francesa, located in the city of Parintins-AM, through the geolocation of the possible pollution sources of domestic and industrial effluents that are released this lake. This study intends to accompany the water cycle that affects the volume of water of this lake in order to evaluate the quality of surface water due to the effect of natural and anthropogenic sources. Based on the geolocation of relevant points of discharge of effluents, the points of collection of water, sediments and macrophytes will be determined. Sampling shall be conducted between ebb and flow of the lake. The parameters of water and sediment will be analyzed in accordance with the requirements established by CONAMA Resolutions 357/05 and 344/04. The values obtained for both collections will be compared in order to identify and assess the main variables that affect water quality. Finally, it is also proposed to investigate the potential use of the most abundant macrophyte in the lake as bioindicators of environmental pollution at the site studied.
