Abstract

This research project aims to determine the occurrence of infection by Cryptosporidium spp. in fecal samples from lambs of Alambari city, São Paulo. Will be used in the study of 200 lambs, which have their stools examined by negative staining method with malachite green to verify the elimination of Cryptosporidium spp. and for antigen detection of the parasite, will be utilized the kit Enzyme Immunoassay "Cryptosporidium Test" (ELISA) of TechLab. Statistical analysis will consist of the chi-square test with a 5% significance level to verify the association between the presence of this parasite and with sex, race, and age of the animals examined. It also will compare the effectiveness of the techniques of malachite green and ELISA for the diagnosis of Cryptosporidium spp. in young sheep.(AU)
