Abstract

Alterations in Stationary Rossby Waves (SRW) are connected to regional climate changes and the propagation of the SRW energy has great influence on the evolution and development of general circulation. The tropics is very important for the interannual variability of planetary waves, and the tropics-extratropics connection is made through the Hadley cell (HC). Several studies show that in a climate warming scenario or an increase in the concentration of greenhouse gases, there is a weakening and enlargement of the Hadley circulation. Given this, the contribution of this proposal aims to develop an broad study of the impacts of the change in structure and intensity of the CH on the extratropical SRW in the region of South America and the Atlantic Ocean and to investigate regional climate changes associated, since these are the target regions of the subsident CH branch and of the SRW energy propagation generated by tropical forcing and, therefore, has its state of weather and climate changed in the light of these factors.
