Abstract

Knowledge of the effects of acidity and liming on N mineralization in soils can contribute to more appropriate management of the nutrient, which is reflected in the economics of fertilization, nutrition and plant productivity, and loss control, particularly by leaching. With this design will be evaluated the effects of liming on the mineralization of soil organic nitrogen and nitrification, and the effect of self-induced acidity in the nitrification process. Two experiments will be conducted under controlled conditions. In one of them will be assessed the effects of liming on N mineralization from two soils collected in the 0 to 20 cm, which will be corrected for acidity in pH CaCl2 of 4.5, 5.0, 5.5; 6.0, and 6.5, and have the pH and the levels of N-NH4 + and NO3-N-evaluated at 0, 7, 14, 28, 42, 56 and 70 days. Another experiment will be evaluating the effect of self-induced acidity in nitrification, using two soils collected in the 0 to 20 cm, which will be kept in incubation under controlled conditions, for 0, 7, 14, 28, 42, 56, and 70 days, with and without the addition of 100 mg dm-3 N as (NH4) 2SO4. Also in this case the variables will be evaluated and the pH levels of N-NH4 + and NO3-N-. In both experiments, the variables are statistically evaluated as a function of incubation time. In the case of N-NH4 + and NO3-N, for each pH condition, it will try adjusting the results to the exponential model for first-order kinetics. The pH will be tested by mathematical models and we choose the best fit.(AU)
