Abstract

This project has the general aims of the synthesis and characterization of catalysts that consist of metalloporphyrins (MeP) immobilized in silica matrixes. In this work regular nanospheres of nanocomposites (Fe3O4@nSiO2) will be simultaneous, functionalized with MePs and coated with a mesoporous and structured layer, in order to obtain the catalyst Fe3O4@nSiO2@mSiO2-MeP. This mesoporous layer will be obtained using the surfactant cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) forming channels perpendicularly oriented. The catalyst will be characterized through infrared and ultraviolet-visible absorption spectroscopy, diffuse reflectance spectroscopy, X-ray diffractometry, N2 adsorption-desorption isotherms, electron microscopy (scanning and transmission), and thermal analysis. The material will be assessed in the oxidation of (Z)-cyclooctene, cyclohexane using PhIO and H2O2 as oxidants, in order to understand the oxidative processes and to relate with the morphological and structural properties such as the nature of Feb active site microenvironment and the accessibility of the substrate to this catalytic active site. It is also intended to do preliminary studies of the metabolism of the drug Mirtazapine (MTZ), an antidepressant, aiming to understand the catalytical biomimetic oxidative processes of FeP in solution and as Fe3O4@nSiO2@mSiO2-FeP.(AU)
