Abstract

The present research project, to be held in the Molecular Electronics Group (GEM) of Escola Politécnica, USP (EPUSP), objects to the studying of polymer light-emitting diodes (PLEDs) with thin film structures containing transparent anode/hole transport layer/emissive layer/electron transport layer/metallic cathode. It is intended to study the lifetime of such devices (device degradation) in the function of the encapsulation used. Besides, it is also intended to study device manufacturing by employing new materials synthesized by Brazilian research groups that contribute to GEM. The candidate started her activities in the present project in March 2011 and presented a more than satisfactory performance. This scholarship request is aimed at maintaining the student for a nine-month period in order to accomplish the undergraduate research as a link to the post-graduation, to be initialized in August 2012. 2011 first semester was used as the student's adaptation to the new area of knowledge (since she had already been awarded the FAPESP scholarship at IPEN), and to practice the implementation of all stages of fabrication and characterization of PLEDs.(AU)
