Abstract

Research environment are characterized by conducting experiment in a trial-and-error process, stating hypothesis and validating them. Scientific workflows help these cycles, systematizing and automating activities. An additional factor in these environment is parameter tuning, which depends both on experiment context and the experience the scientist has accumulated from previous experiments. Context definition may involve many factors such as the people of the scientist (or the group), experiment goals, etc. The objective of this thesis is to support scientists in the scenario, via instantiation and dynamic adaptation of workflows for the experiment. The idea is to specify and implement a framework to support context based workflows adaptation. This framework will be tested within the scope of a workflows management system.
