Abstract

The Betta splendens, also known as "fish fighting", stands out as one of the most important species in ornamental fish farming. Being territorial, aggressive, developing your vision becomes essential to capture prey and to avoid their predators. In this sense, the objective of this project is to analyze the development of the eye of B. splendens by histological and scanning electron microscopy, and study the behavior exhibited. The larvae will be used from the laboratory of ornamental fish from CAUNESP, Jaboticabal - SP, where they will kept on substrates with male parental care. The larvae will be collected in pre-established times of development, being sacrificed with anesthetic for subsequent sample processing, analysis and interpretation of results. Therefore, studying the development of the visual system is essential to understand the biology and behavior, aspects that reflect the critical moments of the production processes. Relating the variables obtained, we have a dynamic study, and from it, a contribution to the management and production of B. splendens. (AU)
