Abstract

Cephalometry is a set of measurements of the skull and face produced for varied and relevant medical and dental applications. This project includes the development and validation of a method of detection and automatic identification of cephalometric points of interest. The method proposed here to study consists of a pipeline containing anisotropic diffusion filter, a segmentation and feature extractor based on phase congruency and a multilayer perceptron classifier to identify the points. It is intended to develop the method in computer application using C + + language, and compare performance with other methods studied in the literature, as well as the manual method. It is expectedd that this work will lead to academic result answering questions about accuracy and efficiency of proposed techniques, as well as the practical legacy software to make available a basic cephalometry suitable for public health institutions.(AU)
