Abstract

The Temporomandibular Joint Disfunction (TMD) is a high prevalence disease, with a multifactorial etiology and is one hard health challenge, as diagnose and treatment. The aim of this study is to evaluate and compare the effects of massage therapy and Michigan Splint, on the side and opening mandibular movements in patients with TMD. The sample will be composed by individuals divided into three groups. These, two experimental, composed by TMD diagnosed subjects, will be treated with massage therapy (group A), Michigan Splint (group B) respectively, therefore the control group (group C), will be composed by subjects free from TMD signs and symptoms and will not receive treatment. All subjects will answer a questionnaire for TMD diagnose and will have their mandibular movements evaluated, pre and post intervention. The data will be organized in tables and graphs according to mean and standard deviation, with (p<0,05).(AU)
