Abstract

Current electronics systems developed as System-on-Chip are characterized by the increse of critical information that is stored and processed. The widespread of SoCs, that promotes the resource sharing, security ios becoming a extremely important requirement. Current SoCs are attacked. The challenge is to design a thrust worthy SoC while meeting the performance and security requirements of all the applications. The SoC communication structure has become the heart of the SoC. It has a significant impact on the overall system performance. The inclusion of security services at the communication structure is advantageous, because it is able to :1) monitor information; 2) detect atacks; 3) block attacks; and 4) provide diagnostic information for triggering suitable recovery mechanisms. This work proposes the implementation f the QoSS (Quality-of-Security-Service) concept at the HoC-based (hybrid communication structure) communication structure, that combines buses and Network-on-Chip (NoC) in the same system. HoCs has been recently proposed as an efficient communication structure able to support all the communication requirements of the system. The HoCs are of specially interest, once they are foressen as the communication structure for 3D-SoCs, a new SoC methodology that propomotes the vertical integration of the system in a single chip. QoSS allows the inclusion of security as a QoS (Quality-of-Service) dimension, accepting the existence of different protection levels. The QoSS adoption at HoCs design allows the exploration of the design space of buses and NoCs taking into account the system security and performance tradeoff. (AU)
