Abstract

The experience and ways of living resources and the presence of media, especially television, marking the day to day life of children, and in particular, frequent contact with pictures, models and values transmitted by the media. Among those images that stand out, there are the cartoons, genres that are part of everyday life and step into the infant school spaces. And that entry appears likely to representations of this object that is not natural school environment. Thus, this research has the general objective: to analyze the social representation of children about the potential of teaching given to the cartoon. And in order to meet this goal, we have the following objectives: a) describe and analyze the social representation of the child over the cartoons; b) Describe and analyze the practice of the children surveyed television c) To observe the content of the drawings animated games not directed at the school d) Review the school's understanding of the media as educational element. The research design is descriptive and explanatory in nature. The procedures for data collection are: a) interview with school teacher to determine if the medium is crafted in the classroom, b) semi-directed interviews with children, c) not directed observations of children playing during recess. The research subjects will be girls and boys equally represented in eight years, students of 3rd year of elementary school, I cycle at a public school of São José do Rio Preto. With this we intend, in this research, understand the social representations of children and the relationship between the cartoon and the knowledge that they bring about their school experiences.
