Abstract

In this project, the influence of Al and Ag concentration on the characteristics of hypoeutectoid alloys of the Cu-Al-Mn-Ag system, with constant Mn concentration of 10wt.% and Al and Ag concentration in the range between 8 and 10 wt.%Al and 2 and 4 wt.%Ag, will be studied using Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM), X-ray Diffractometry (XRD), electrical resistivity changes measurements with temperature and magnetization measurements with magnetic field and with temperature. These concentrations comprehend the beginning of the Heusler phase formation in alloys of the Cu-Al-Mn system and will provide information about the influence of Al and Ag concentration on the reactions that leads to the formation of this phase and on the electrical and magnetic properties of the alloys.
