Abstract The wide use of biotechnologies of reproduction provides better use of genetically superior animals, reducing the gap between generations and improving the genetics of their offspring. However, there are indications that follicular population, is associated with female fertility and may be also associated with hormone profiles and expression of genes involved in the follicular recruitment. The anti-müllerian hormone (AMH) is produced by the granulosa cells of healthy follicles and its plasma concentration is correlated with the follicular population and the response to the superestimulatory treatment. Similarly to AMH, the testosterone is another important hormone involved in the follicular growth and development, and moreover presents a positive correlation with the number of antral follicles. The aim of this work was to (1) identify Nelore (Bos indicus) and Aberdeen Angus (Bos taurus) females, with high or low amount of follicles per wave, and correlate the number of follicles with plasma concentrations of AMH and testosterone; (2) to correlate the production of embryos from Nelore cows (Bos indicus) after superstimulatory protocol with the hormone levels of AMH and testosterone; and (3) to correlate the plasma concentrations of AMH with the fertility of Nelore cows (Bos indicus). | |
