Abstract

Considering that the association between alteration profiles, paleosols and the highest geomorphic surfaces, can effectively indicate very specific moments of the geomorphological evolution framework, the purpose of this work is identify and characterize lateritic materials present in the highest portions of the topography and confirming its agreement compared to the erosive surfaces surrounding the area southwest of Minas Gerais and northeast of Sao Paulo, more precisely at coordinates 46 ° 30 '47 ° 20' W and 20 ° 00 '21 ° 00' S. To accomplish such a proposal will be made mapping work, morphology analysis, fluorescence spectrometry and X-ray diffraction on samples of materials that allow the characterization of three selected profiles. Later the technique will be applied by Fission-Track Thermochronology (FTT) in apatite minerals found in the portion that refers to the crystalline basement in order to verify the thermal history of geological samples and finally get an idea of long-term geomorphological evolution
