Abstract

The expansion of sugar cane has occurred in a disorganized manner at the Brazilian setting, especially at the State of São Paulo, causing serious impacts being highlighted de soil degradation, the hydric resources pollution, the pression above other cultures or native forests, among others. The objectives of this research is to analyze the expansion of sugar cane at the basin of Tietê/Jacaré (UGRHI 13), located in the central area at the State of São Paulo, and elaborate a perspective through the application of alternate models of land use, in the environment of a Geographic Information System (GIS). The hydrographic basin pointed is known by the high susceptibility to erosion of its soil ad by the fact that its main economic activity is the agribusiness, being pointed as one of regions where will happen the expansion of sugar cane at the State of São Paulo at the next 15 years. For the purpose, some resources of Geoprocessment will be used and some remote sensorial products, apart from work and bibliographic review about the research theme. Techniques about dynamic modeling will be applied to elaborate a perspective of the expansion of sugar cane at the Basin of Tietê/Jacaré, through the utilization of models of alternation of the use and the land occupy. With the obtained results with the modeling, we intend to do comparisons with instruments related to the use and occupy of the land policy, in different parts of the management/making up decisions. The results of this research will make possible the understanding of how the modeling can help at the elaboration and applying of instruments from environmental policy, helping the territorial order through the subsidize to the making up of decisions from those who hold this power.
