Abstract

Discomfort, stress, anxiety and pain, are some hypothetical examples of situations that the dental patient can come to report for some clinical procedures, which can lead to a lack of cooperation from the patient. The conscious sedation by the administration of nitrous-oxide is an example of a measure that has been used to control anxiety and pain. The present study aims to study and evaluate the effectiveness of conscious sedation, nitrous oxide compared to other traditional therapeutic approaches as a method of preemptive pain, since there are few studies in the literature.
