Abstract

Brazil is now the largest producer of orange juice in the world and most of this cultivation is found in the state of São Paulo. There is a great generation of waste, including orange peel, being dropped on the ground, damaging people's health and the environment. The aim of this project is a study of the sorption of benzene, highly toxic organic contaminants found in water and soil, orange peel, dried at 110°C, and pyrolysis at various temperatures. The methodology used for sorption studies will be spectrophotometry in the UV-Visible region. The following will apply for validation and observation of the amount sorbed, and isotherms, applying the Langmuir and Freundlich models.(AU)
