Abstract

The Brazilian economic structure based on the agribusiness sector actually, occupying the first position in the production ranking of orange juice. As a result, the waste generated from this activity is exorbitant, which has significant impact on the environment and human health due to the volume of waste generated which do not have a suitable and sustainable destination. The objective of this project will consist to characterize the thermal dry orange peel, under the effects of pyrolysis and burning, noting its potential energy. Also checked the possibility of sorption of organic contaminants such Ethylbenzene through optical emission spectrometry UV-Visible, and toxic metals such as Cu, Ni, Al, Zn, Pb and Cd by ICP-OES analysis, optical emission spectrometry with plasma induced coupled. The dry specimen pyrolysed will be characterized in terms of porosity and specific surface area by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and analysis (BET). (AU)
