Abstract

In the last years, the interest in including synchronized phasor measurements (SPMs) in the process of power system state estimation has increased. The reason for that is not only because SPMs are in general more precisely than the conventional measurements obtained by SCADA system (voltage magnitude and power measurements), but also because through SPMs is possible to measure the voltage phase angles, that it is not possible by SCADA measurements. In this project, a method for observability and measurement redundancy analysis for metering systems composed of both conventional measurements and SPMs is proposed. The idea is to develop a new way to represent the relationships among measurements and state variables to obtain a measurement to branch incident matrix that allows observability and measurement redundancy analysis via its triangular factorization. In order to do this, I will be used concepts of graph theory and techniques for sparse matrix triangular factorization.(AU)
