Abstract

The Chinese economy has come to prominence on the world stage in recent years due to the extraordinary performance shown. In less than three decades China has transformed from a primarily agrarian country into a well-diversified and highly productive industrial nation. With the growth based on this rapid industrialization, the Chinese economy has become the "workshop of the world," accounting for about 10% of international trade and key locus for the accumulation strategies of multinationals organized into global production networks. During this process of industrialization and integration of multinational companies - especially North American and Asian - there was a rapid transformation in domestic production structure, and especially in Chinese exports. As a result of these changes, such exports have rapidly concentrated in high-tech sectors, which shows increasingly high value added and are highly dynamic international markets. In this context, is of great importance to realize the industrialization and changes in the production structure of China in recent years, highlighting the role of the industrial policies and local changes in the form of global organization of production that contributed to the transformation of China into one of main agents of globalization of production.
