Abstract

Considering the changes that have been occurring in the rural space and what it has been called new rurality, the rural settlements are elements of extreme importance in this context. To understand the set of relationships that exists in these spaces it is necessary to consider its complexities since it links different elements. In this way, the source of income is one of the elements necessary for people to stay in the rural space, and the nonagricultural is a possibility to increase their earnings from agricultural activities. Therefore, the purpose of this project is to research and analyze nonagricultural alternatives of sources of income used in the rural settlements located in Rosana towns as a way of ensuring to keep these spaces as a place for housing and production. Also will seek to detect solidarity alternatives to the production and commercialization of nonagricultural products, consider what additional practices of the non-agricultural source of income add value material, and symbolism to the life of the settler population, and pay attention to the discovery of new alternatives that may arise during the development of research beyond those already known. Besides it gives a subsidy to compare situations studied in other towns situated in Pontal do Paranapanema, and the southern region of Mato Grosso do Sul, in view of the fact that these areas are the main study object of Laboratory for the Study of Rural Settlements from UNESP/Rosana, which author is part of. To this, will realize apart from the bibliographic research, field research with quantitative and qualitative techniques, seeking to link them to obtain relevant information through questionnaires and interviews with the use of the recorder.(AU)
