Abstract

This research will investigate the relationships between the concepts of rehabilitation and body awareness approach promoted by somatic-Rolfing® Structural Integration and the notion of 'experience' body, when new insights emerge, body images and mental representations. Rolfing is a system postural reeducation and movement, through touch and speech, can produce structural and functional changes of the musculoskeletal system, changes in perception and feeling processed in the body, and as a consequence of these changes may be changes in the relationship with the environment, with himself and with others. This qualitative research will operate through two case studies, in which the construction of the relationship between therapist and student, and the situation that occurs in the service, will be seen as a "process" analogous to making art. The touch, the "attention", the "presence" and the speech therapist, a result of listening to specific demands of students, which involves both the gestural and the verbal discourse. From listening to these speeches and gestures that emerge from students, we can move forward in investigating the role of metaphor as a result of a unique experience in itself, opening fields of understanding in their teaching movement and artistic creation, placing the metaphor as a possible product of the process of exploration and perceptual processing.
