Abstract

To meet demand and ensure greater productivity in farming systems, growers have used new technologies on limiting factors as nutrition, physiology and health of animals. External environmental factors and the microclimate exert direct and indirect effects on pigs at all stages of production, with worsen effect in the final stages of creation, increased susceptibility of pigs to heat and reduction in productivity, with consequent economic losses the pig farm. This study aims to evaluate the effect of thermoneutrality, of uncontrolled environment temperature and the influence of pre-slaughter stress on physiological parameters, animal performance and behavior. In this study, will be used 30 castrated male lineage Topigs distributed in a completely randomized design consisting of three treatments (T1: animals in environmental temperature, T2: animals in thermoneutrality and T3: animals in thermoneutrality and submitted to environmental temperature for fifteen days before slaughter), with ten replicates and one animal each. The results will be submitted to analysis of variance and regression and the means compared by Tukey 5%, the computer program SAS (2001).
