Abstract

This research project aims to analyze some works of contemporary art that has as its theme the traumatic memory, trying to understand how they deal with the traumatic past. The research is based on the assumption that these works, beyond a simple return to the past, may present opportunities for development / overcome the trauma present in the collective memory, operating as shields. From these studies, which mostly deal with authoritarian dictatorships, and the arguments of various theories of memory, we intend to analyze what has been called "art of elaboration" significant field of contemporary art. To this end, the work will be studied from its characteristics of archive (photographs and objects). Will also be placed on the agenda the different theories about memory, and basic psychoanalytic principles of trauma, repetition and transfer of Sigmund Freud and Jacques Lacan.
